Corporate Social Responsibility

At Singapore Medical Group (SMG), we aim not only to provide our patients with excellent clinical outcomes and great patient experience, but also to create a more positive life through improved healthcare provisions to our communities at large.

In 2010, The Lasik Surgery Clinic (LSC) launched its Recycling Vision campaign, a spectacle recycling programme to help needy children and adults, both locally and in the region. We have since worked with numerous welfare organisations to help make an impact to the lives of those who are unable to afford glasses or lack access to optometry services.

The lenses from donated spectacle frames were removed and discarded, while the frames were cleaned and packed by volunteers. Following an eye check, new lenses will be fitted into the frames on-site according to each person’s prescription. Donated sunglasses will also be distributed to the villagers to protect their eyes from the sun since many of them work outdoors as farmers or fishermen.

Outreach Collaboration with Charity@Work by SingPost

On 7 July 2017, our staff from The Lasik Surgery Clinic (LSC) were at SingPost to conduct eye tests for 50 needy elderly from the Lions Befrienders Service Association. The outreach was part of the Charity@Work initiative by SingPost which assisted with the collection of old frames and Visio Optical as the main sponsor for new spectacle lens.

General Manager, Karen Chua (LSC) received a token of appreciation from Mr Mervyn Lim, Deputy Group CEO (Corporate Services) & Group CFO, SingPost for the support rendered.

CSR Event with the Society of Opticianry Practitioners, Singapore and Tzu Chi Foundation

This year, we collected used/old glasses to donate to a mission trip to Sri Lanka in August 2017. This initiative was jointly organised by the Society of Opticianry Practitioners, Singapore and Tzu Chi Foundation, Singapore. Volunteer allied healthcare professionals, optometrists, opticians, nurses and dental hygienists will join specialist doctors, ophthalmologists, cardiologists, GPs and dentists to bring healthcare screening to farmers and villagers in remote areas.
